Saung Angklung Udjo
Saung Angklung Udjo is very special place in Bandung. It is a place for you to enjoy the music of Angklung (traditional musical instrument from West Java). It is also a cultural heritage for Bandung. Saung Aklung has been established since 1966 by Mr. Udjo Ngalagena and his wife Uum Sumiati. The reason this place is built is they wanted to conserve and maintain the culture of Angklung. In this place you will watch an Angklung performance that played by a kids! The kids are taught to play Angklung by Saung Angklung Udjo and they are performing by themselves with a music conductor. The song that played can be traditional or modern, one of the song they perform is Love of My Life by Queen. In the end of the show, you will also learn how to play Angklung! They will teach you how to play Angklung and play the music together. Many foreigner visit Saung Angklung Udjo to admire the culture of West Java.
Braga Street is a district to enjoy yourself or even with your friend. Created when the Dutch colonialism happened in Bandung. The Street itself used as a shopping district by the Netherlanders. Bandung is called Paris Van Java because of this street. Why? Because every fashion that are new in Paris, will be sent directly into Bandung, so they won’t be outdated in style. Braga Street also have a restaurant and pastry shop that still operated until now. The Restaurant is called Braga Permai, they deliberately not change the interior to make you feel in Netherlands. The pastry shop is called Sumber Hidangan, this place is also not changed from the Dutch era in Bandung, until now. The pastry in here is very tasty! There’s also a lot of bar here, you also can take many photos here because the street and the building here is very photogenic for a Urban Style .
Taman Hutan Raya / Djuanda Forest
Also called Tahura, Tahura is a conservation forest. This is the place for you who love nature! Many trees, animals, and there’s also a waterfall here where you can swim if you want to! there’s also a cave you can go through, it is “Gua Belanda” and “Gua Jepang” ( Gua = Cave ) Gua Belanda is created when Dutch Colonialism happen to captive the Japanese people that fight back the Netherlanders in Bandung. Gua Jepang is the opposite of Gua Belanda, they also captive the Netherlanders that fight against the Japanese colonialism. There are also a café you can enjoy beside Djuanda forest, you can have a coffee and snack “inside” a forest, with the view of Bandung, the breeze winds and a great coffee = Perfect Day!
